Rogue Virus Shield 2009
Virus Shield 2009 is a rogue anti-spyware application. This parasite is likely a copy of Virus Doctor because graphical user interface’s and application structure’s similarities are evident. The rogue is usually promoted through the use of Trojans or fake advertisements on various malicious websites. Trojan viruses display fake alerts and security notifications which state that user’s computer is infected with spyware or malware. An example of a fake security alert:
“System Alert
malicious applications, which can contain trojans, were found on your PC and need to be immediately removed. Click here to remove these potentially harmful items using Virus Shield.”
Such fake alerts shloud be ignored, otherwise you can mistakenly download and install Virus Shield 2009. Once Virus Shield is intalled and active, it performs bogus system scan and reports many fake infections. It constantly displays very annoying security alerts and may even decrease system performace significantly. The main goal of this parasite is to scare the user into purchasing Virus Shield 2009. However, it is advisable not to do so, because Virus Shield 2009 is totally worthless application. Instead, remove Virus Shield 2009 from the system if it is already installed.
