lsass.exe
Lsass.exe is short for Local Security Authority Service. This system process is essential for the Microsoft Windows operating system, and is in fact one of the most important processes on your computer regarding security. Too bad it gets hacked quite often.
The default location of lsass.exe is C:\Windows\System32\ and should not be moved anywhere else. If you happen to find this file anywhere else on your hard drive, your system has probably been infected by a malware parasite, usually a worm. Spyware and trojan threats often use similar or exactly the same name as lsass.exe to disguise the parasite as a legit application process.
