General Antivirus – another rogue
General Antivirus is another rogue anti-spyware application, fake spyware remover. It spreads twofold. The first method is when the rogue pretends to be an online anti-malware scanner and performs a fake system scan. After the scan it usually advertises to download and install General Antivirus for infections removal. Secondly, it may enter the system using trojan viruses.
Once installed and active, GeneralAntivirus is configured to run automatically when the system starts up. Next, it performs fake scan and floods the system with many pop-up windows about various infections, security and privacy issues. However, those infections were pre invented in order to scare the user, hopping that he will buy a license of General Antivirus, because only full version can remove all infections. Of course the last-mentioned statement is false, because General Antivirus is an infection itself and it is unable to remove any infections. Instead, remove General Antivirus from the system immediately after first appearance.
