directcd.exe

directcd.exe belongs to Roxio’s (ex-Adaptec) Easy CD/DVD Creator. It allows the user to write and delete to CDs and DVDs as if they were a normal drive. Directcd.exe provides a tray icon to which you then can drag files to have them written to CD. Unless you use this function on a frequent basis it isn’t required and can be terminated if suspected to be causing problems.
File DirectCD.exe is located in a subfolder of “C:\Program Files” or sometimes in a subfolder of the “My Files” folder (usually C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\ or C:\program files\adaptec\directcd\).
Known file sizes on Windows XP are 684032 bytes (75% of all occurrence), 679936 bytes, 655360 bytes, 675840 bytes, 69632 bytes, 299008 bytes, 38924 bytes, 704512 bytes, 16897 bytes, 25600 bytes.
