Antivirus 2008
Antivirus 2008 is a relatively new rogue anti-spyware program - a fake spyware remover, which uses disinformation and other malicious tactics to spread. Antivirus 2008 typically enters the system by using trojans, such as Zlob or Vundo. These trojans disguise themselves as video codecs and, once downloaded, flood the user with popups and fake system notifications, disinforming the user on the existence of threats on the system. The popups, fake system notifications and falsified system scan reports (produced by the “trial version”) use a few fake threats in particular: Trojan-PSW.Win32.Coced.215, Trojan.DOS.Tornado_Patch and Backdoor.Win32.TheThing.a.
Do not trust any software or websites, which promote Antivirus 2008: it is a scam and should be treated as such.
